That's a pretty big load -- about 1/3 of the alternator capacity of the pre-02 Tow package Tundras.WEBDec 2, 2007 · 1. Perma Cool has the better fans in that they move more CFM with less amp draw. 2. Flex-a-lite has the better control box is a more sophisticated box instead of a few components thrown together like Perma Cool. I'd love to take off the 1980s era mechanical clutched fan and throw it in a landfill. Free up a bit of power, just a tad of fuel economy, and eliminate the school bus noise upon cold start up.WEBJul 27, 2012 · The mechanical fan that is in use is tiny for the engine, the radiator is like 26x30 and uses a 18" fan, the sienna fan is like 20x27 and it has the overflowtank mounted to it. The key to cooling is flow, putting an electric fan in front of the radiator is creating turbulent air for the mechanical fan to pull. Turbulent air being pulled by a turbulent source reduces overall flow.WEBJul 21, 2011 · Im wanting to convert my horsepower robber belt driven fan to an electric fan. Anyone do this?WEBMar 3, 2003 · Flex-a-lite says you can gain 17 horsepower and about the same torque but I don't think that's true for at least a clutch style fan to electric conversion. I can see that kind of gain over a solidly mounted fan.WEBSep 22, 2020 · The fan controller I bought pulls speed and temp data directly from the OBD sensor, it also allows me to operate each fan independently. Basically one fan kicks on at a lower temperature. They both kick on when the AC is running.WEBJan 23, 2019 · I've searched this forum and couldn't find anything about a clutch fan to electric fan conversion. Summit lists the Flex-A-Lite relay at $20. I don't see a need for the variable speed controller except maybe under certain conditions where one would want a higher or lower fan speed than normal. The negative for me is one more thing to break.
